Menagerie Books is an independent publisher. We make our own editorial decisions, without being influenced by grants, boards, shareholders, or philanthropists. The work is funded by the work. If the books sell, they beget more books.

Menagerie Books believes in doing things yourself. If you don’t know how to do it, you learn how. If you want it in the world, you create it and put it into the world. We’re a small group of writers, artists, and musicians who believe that enough to put it into practice.
Supportive
We’ve built this press around a simple idea: artists don’t need permission, they need support. Menagerie Books brings a collaborative artistic process and years of publishing experience to the table, and expects authors to add their own expertise.

We believe publishing is a collaborative process, where authors and editors are on the same team. Through working together toward the same goals, authors and editors make the publication process kinder and more successful.
